Undo your conditioning, undo your weight.

“Why can't you just do it? Why can't you stick to healthy eating? Or stick to a diet? Why is it so hard when you are so good at so much else in your life? Why is it you just lose all sense and reason around food and come completely undone?” I would be in tears thinking this to myself literally every second day. Seriously, on some days, any excuse would do the trick to give in to the urge to overeat. I had the career, the marriage, the children, great friends. My life ticked all the boxes on paper. But I just could not work this part out and it was so INFURIATING! Can you relate?

You want to know why you cannot make it stick? It is your subconscious conditioning. It has you programmed to use food to manage your emotional needs. At some point, turning to food was the path of least resistance. And it was not like you were actively seeking out the emotional effect that it temporarily had on you. If you are anything like me, it started out as being about how yummy the food tasted and it was so enjoyable to eat. Without realizing it at the time, it took your focus away from everything else in your life. You just got to relish it, you felt happier and went on with your day.

But then over time and with repetition, the weight came on. And so you had to stop. And that felt so HARD! You did the whole sugar detox thing, you made it through the three days they say it will take to stop craving sugar. But you still had cravings. Why? Because of the reasons you turned to food in the first place. The dysfunctional boundaries you have in your life, that job that does not really work for you. The low self-esteem and the toxic subconscious shame you carry around.

When you do the inner work, one day you will love yourself more than you love the food. When the emotional and mental resistance has decreased enough, you will be able to keep your senses and say no to the food. By learning other coping mechanisms, you will allow your ideal, healthy body to come forth. In your new habits, it will feel so right that it's not at all an effort to maintain your weight.
